Lady ‘Cat relay team sets new record at MCHS Twilight Relays

DRAFFENVILLE – Trigg County opened its final week of action before the 2A 1st Region Championship Track Meet with a strong performance at Marshall County High School’s Twilight Relays.

The Lady Wildcats finished third overall while the Wildcats were ninth. Highlighting the day for Trigg was the girls sprint relay team of Abigail Torian, Janada Acree, Kadijah Grubbs and Shelby Grubbs, which set a new meet record in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1 minute, 45.76 seconds. The previous record was 1:46.25 held by Paducah Tilghman.

The same group also won the 4x100-meter relay in :50.92.

MURRAY – Trigg’s week continued Thursday at a fill-the-lanes event at Murray State University’s Roy Stewart Stadium. The Lady ‘Cats finished second and the Wildcats fifth.

The Lady ‘Cats won the 4x100 (:50.28), 4x200 (1:45.94) and 4x400-meter relays (4:31.40). Abigail Torian (:13.09) and Shelby Grubbs (:13.58) finished first and second respectively in the 4x100-meter dash, and Torian (:26) and Kadijah Grubbs (:26.70) were one-two in the 4x200-meter.
