LOUISVILLE – Abigail Torian had another great day at the track last Saturday. The Trigg County student added her fifth and sixth state titles by winning the 55-meter dash and the 800-meter relay at the Mason Dixon State Indoor Championship.

Torian was last years Class A Track Athlete of the year, and got a good start to winning the Class AA award this year.

Janada Acree claimed her third state title by winning the high jump with a jump of 5 feet and was also a member of the 800-meter relay team, along with freshman Shelby Grubbs, and eighth-grader Khadijah Grubbs

That relay team is unbeaten in the past two years in speed relay competition. In May, the team won the Class A 400-meter and 800-meter relays. They continued the streak by winning Saturday’s 800-meter race in near record time of 1 minute, 50.91 seconds.

The Lady Wildcats placed fifth overall out of 27 teams at the meet. Trigg County’s outdoor track season begins March 24 at Marshall County.
