ELKTON – The Trigg County Lady Cats had a three-game win streak snapped last Tuesday (Feb. 17) on the road at Todd County Central. In the girls’ game of a boys-girls basketball doubleheader, Todd County Central established an early lead and never faltered on its homefloor. The Lady Rebels rolled, defeating visiting Trigg County 70-36.

The Lady Cats had posted back-to-back-to-back wins over Reidland, St. Mary and Caldwell County the week before.

Todd County Central carried a 37-15 lead into halftime.

Junior guard Evelyn Turner paced Todd County Central with a game-high 18 points. Turner connected on four three-point field goals for the winning team. Senior center Kim Johnson was the second-leading scorer for Todd County Central, finishing with 17 points. Johnson recorded a near double-double, exiting the matchup with nine rebounds.

Senior guard Shirley Case netted 12 points for the Lady Rebels. Senior forward Holly Simons added nine points for homestanding Todd County Central.

Turner hit 4-of-9 three-pointers for the Lady Rebels.

The slow start coupled with more than one cold shooting streak hindered Trigg County’s progress.

Sophomore guard/forward Brooke Kearney led Trigg County with a team-high eight points. Senior forward Janada Acree scored and sophomore guard Elysia Brown added seven points each for the Lady Cats. Acree also pulled down seven rebounds for Trigg County.

Todd County Central shot 41.9-percent (26-of-62) from the field en route to the win.
