Despite ultimately suffering the setback, Trigg County played well at times.
Janada Acree paced Trigg County with a double-double of 23 points and 17 rebounds. Ashley Matlock contributed a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Lady Cats. Another leading contributor, Elysia Brown had 11 rebounds, six points and six assists for the Trigg County girls’ basketball team.
Trigg County struggled at the free throw line, connecting on just 10-of-25 foul shots.
Lyon County and Trigg County swapped leads numerous times. The Lady Lyons exited the first quarter out in front 10-9. Trigg County owned an advantage at the conclusion of each of the next two quarters, leading Lyon County 18-16 at the intermission and 28-27 at the end of the third period. After ending regulation deadlocked in a 39-39 tie, Lyon edged Trigg 13-12 in the overtime frame.
The Lady Lyons hit 18 field goals and finished 16-of-27 from the free throw line.
Sarah White led Lyon County (3-2 overall, 1-1 district) with a double of 14 points and 13 rebounds. Brittany Doom, Aubrey Riggs and Rachel Rhodes each had eight points for the Lady Lyons.
Trigg County dropped to 1-4 with the loss.
