Last week’s rain left the Trigg County Lady Wildcats with only three softball games, both losses to Russellville.

After last Monday’s loss to Livingston Central, Trigg lost 8-2 at home last Tuesday and 6-5 Monday at Russellville.

In the 8-2 loss, Morgan Parker got the Lady ‘Cats started on the right foot with a two-run double in the bottom of the first to put Trigg ahead 2-0, but Russellville scored two in the second, four in the third and two in the fourth. Five of the six runs scored in the second and third innings were unearned on four errors.

Monday, Trigg led 4-0 after scoring three in the third and one in the fourth, but Russellville scored the next six. The Lady ‘Cats tallied for one in the seventh but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Trigg scored its third-inning runs on a three-run double by Parker. The Lady ‘Cats loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the seventh but were only able to push one run across.

Trigg was scheduled to host Fort Campbell on Tuesday (results unavailable at press time) and honor seniors Whitney Cain, Dakota Littlejohn, Hannah Oliver and Cheniqua Smithers.

Trigg is scheduled to play Thursday at Hopkinsville and Friday at Mayfield before facing off with Livingston Central in Monday’s first round of the 5th District Tournament at the Trigg County Recreation Complex.

Trigg enters the tournament with a record of 2-10.

In junior varsity action, the Lady Wildcats improved their record to 3-7 with a 7-1 victory Monday at Russelville.
