Friday night will be your last chance to go the “Cadiz Cruze-In,” which has become fairly well-attended in its first summer. Those who attend will have the opportunity to gaze at classic cars, eat hamburgers cooked by the Lions Club, swap car parts and shop for antiques.

Jesse Thomas said his love for vintage car shows inspired him to organize the Cruze-Ins this summer, and said City Hall has cooperated in making the events possible. For the last few months, they have drawn car owners from many places, thanks in part to Thomas marketing them to those he meets at similar events, such as car shows. He said he was recently spreading the word as far away as Evansville, Ind.

At the first Cruze-In, drivers gathered in the parking lot of Cadiz Baptist Church, but they soon moved further downtown since everyone seemed to like gathering in the center of town, Thomas said. At the August Cruze-In, Thomas also held a swap meet in the Farmers Market lot, which will continue Friday. Thomas said that the heat in August kept the turnout lower than he would have liked, but said he hoped more people would come now that the weather was more comfortable.

“I feel like we’ll have a good crowd,” he said.
