Funeral services for Lewis Earl “Buck” Buchanan 79, Cadiz were conducted on Friday, June 5, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home with military honors.

Rev. Billy Barnes officiated at the service.

Mr. Buchanan died on Monday, June 1, 2009, at 1:13 p.m. at Murray-Calloway County Hospital in Murray, of natural causes.

Mr. Buchanan was born on Saturday, June 4, 1930, in Spruce Pine, NC. He was the son of the late Woodfin and Hettie Fisher Buchanan.

Mr. Buchanan was retired from the US Air Force with 30 years of service and from General Electric. He was a US Air Force Veteran serving in The Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He was a member of the VFW, Masonic Lodge and Rizpah Shrine Temple. He was a member of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a twin sister, Lois Riddle, two sisters Margie Sparks and Hazel Harrison, one brother, Charlie Buchanan, and his first wife, Lillie Buchanan.

Survivors include his wife Atsuko Buchanan of Beaverton, OR, one son, Lewis E. “Buck” Buchanan, of Hanover, MD, one daughter, Janice Coyne, of Sacremento, CA, two sisters, Betty Gobel, of Gastonia, NC, Ruby Raxter, of Michigan, three grandchildren, Kristelle Buchanan, Danielle Buchanan, and Monique Matthews.
