Starting on Aug. 22, the museum will present “Oh, the Things We Collect,” which is quickly being put together from collections of various items from people living in and around Trigg County. The exhibit is still in the planning stages, but museum administrator Paula Lisowsky said most of the items are already secured. She said that Wanda DeName has loaned a collection of antique Cadiz advertising. Museum board member Bryan Blaylock will be contributing a collection of fossilized snails. Another collection will feature fine knives.
“Everyone will find something intriguing in this exhibit,” Lisowsky said.
“Oh, the Things We Collect” will be on display from Aug. 22 through Sept. 9.
Another upcoming exhibit is the Juried Exhibition. Lisowsky said that when the museum started it in 2005, the board decided to only have it every two years, which helps make it more prestigious than it would if it were held annually. Plus, it is a bit costly to put on as well. The competition is open to all artists working in any medium in Kentucky, western and middle Tennessee, southeastern Missouri, southern Illinois and southern Indiana, Lisowsky said. She said that she hoped there would be plenty of entries because of the success of the 2005 show, which had 77 entries.
