Bridges died in his home in Cadiz at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2009, of natural causes.
Bridges was born Thursday, February 11, 1915, in Cadiz to Mount Vernon Bridges and Dannie (Noel) Bridges.
A man of the Baptist faith, Bridges was a deacon at Canton Baptist Church, and was also a Kentucky Colonel. He was a retired logger and a former Trigg County Magistrate, where he served the Canton precinct for 17 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother Ambie Bridges Hughes, his wife Dorothy Mae (Curling) Bridges, his sons Billy Ray and William Hay Bridges, his grandson David Lawrence, his sisters Myrtle Rhea Hendricks and Sadie Wyatt and his brothers Lacy “Dink” and Cecil “Bill” Bridges.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Sue and Josh Thomas of Cadiz, Nell and Wendell Wallace of Cadiz, Peggy and Bob Gann of Cadiz and Judy and Harold Knight of Cadiz, his daughter Betty Bridges of Cadiz, and his sister Glenda Lawrence of Cadiz.
He is also survived by his grandchildren Mechelle Gilles, Beth Sachan, Derek Edmonson, Danielle Audas, Kerri Stewart, Kim Fuller, Shannon Knight, Shane Knight, Jeff Gann, and Carol Weakley, and his great grandchildren Camden Gilles, Jenna Stroud, Stephen Audas, III, Blake Edmonson, Dylan Edmonson, Jessica Stewart, Kayce Stewart, Tyler Knight, Conner Knight, Henry Knight, Lauren Weakley, Zach Weakley, Catherine Weakley and Hunter Gann.
