Funeral services for Marie C. Cunningham, 90, of Cadiz were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Second Baptist Church in Cadiz. Gamble Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

The Rev. C.L. Brown officiated the services. Burial followed in the Cunningham/Mayes Cemetery in Cadiz.

Mrs. Cunningham died at 12:10 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Cadiz.

Mrs. Cunningham was born March 31, 1920 in Bumphus Mills, Tenn. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Mollie Civils Curlin.

Mrs. Cunningham was a high school English teacher. She retired from Trigg County School System in 1975 after 32 years. She had a Masters degree in Education. She was a member of Trigg County Retired Teachers Association and Trigg County Homemakers Association. She was a member of the Board of Trustees at Hopkinsville College of the Bible.

She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Cadiz. She held the offices of State Baptist Women’s Convention, Western Region President, Little River and Cumberland Valley Women’s Missionary and Education Convention, Honorary Lifetime Member, Little River and Cumberland Valley Women’s Missionary Convention, Past President, and Morning Missionary Circle, Past Instructor.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Shirley A. Cunningham, Sr.; two sisters, Cora Curlin Redd and Lillie Curlin Thomas; three brothers, Grady Curlin, Johnnie Curlin and Curtis Curlin; and one daughter, Mollie Sue Cunningham.

Survivors include two sons, Shirley Allen Cunningham, Jr., (Patricia) of Lexington and Henry Smith Cunningham, (Linda) of Fort Worth, Texas; six grandsons, Christopher Allen Cunningham of Lexington, Weldon Taylor of Lexington, Shirley (Trae) A. Cunningham, III of Lexington, Brandon Adolhus Cunningham of Fort Worth, Texas, Thomas Ricardo Cunningham of Fort Worth, Texas and J.M. Christen Cunningham of Lexington; one great granddaughter, Breann Marie Taylor Cunningham of Lexington; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
