Rev. Irvin Darnall officiated at the services. Burial followed in the East End Cemetery in Cadiz.
Mrs. Sumner died on Saturday, October 13, 2007, at 6:32 a.m., at Hilltop Nursing Home in Kuttawa of natural causes.
Mrs. Sumner was born on May 20, 1925, in Trigg County. She was the daughter of the late John William and Ollie Dixon Compton.
Mrs. Sumner was retired from Elk Brand Manufacturing in Cadiz; was a member of Cadiz Baptist Church; a member of the Ophelia Chapter No. 55 Order of the Eastern Star; member of Thomas and Bridges Association; and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Sumner; and a brother, Jessie Darnell.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gaylon and Donna Sumner of Cadiz; grandchildren, Mike and Cindy Sumner of Cadiz, and Lori and Marcus Lawrence of Auburn; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Joe Bridges, vocalist, and Bonnie Boyd, pianist provided the music.
Serving as pallbearers were Mike Sumner, Frankie Phillips, Jordan Sumner, Jessie Sumner, James D. Sumner, and Jim Page.
