Funeral services for Mrs. Maxine Houston, 80, of Murray, were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home in Murray.

Bro. Hal Shipley officiated and burial followed at the Murray Memorial Gardens.

Visitation was held Monday, August 9, 2010 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Houston died at 9:07 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Hickory Woods Retirement Center.

She was born December 22, 1929 in Caldwell County to Walter and Estelle Evans Elkins.

She was a homemaker. She attended Murray Training School and was a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church, the adult women’s Sunday School class as well as a member of W.M.U. She volunteered at Needline for over 10 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Houston; parents, Walter and Estelle Elkins; two sisters, Rozzella Williams and Shirley Grey Elkins.

Survivors include her daughter, Annette Baccus (Lindsey) of Cadiz; two sons, Phil Houston (and wife Lisa) of Springfield, Tenn. and Rex Houston of Murray; two grandchildren, April Haneline Tybor of Denver, Colo., and Amanda Haneline Hopper of Nashville, Tenn.; one great grandchild, Chloe Layne Hopper of Nashville, Tenn.
