“These groups are doing a lot of the same thing,” said Bailey. “They are working towards the same goal and some of their efforts are overlapping. Surrounding counties have done a better job with their promotions, but we have the golden goose right here with our tourism. If everything is under one umbrella, we might have more money to work with and be able to get good help.”
Bailey said that he had spoken to Trigg County Judge/Executive Stan Humphries, EDC Chairman Don Leibee and Chamber President Kevin Atwood, who expressed interest and support towards investigating the unification of the three organizations.
Tourism Commission Member Mallory Lawrence said, “We’ve been talking about this for a long time, and think it is something we need to do. We want to make sure we are on the same page with the other organizations and know what we need to do.”
Bailey said, “If we want to do it, we need to get the three entities together to see how the new organization will be structured. I appreciate that you are considering looking into this, and hope we can find a way to make this happen for the betterment of all.”
