Mediacom Spokesman Randy Hollis said that construction equipment in the vicinity of Dover, Tenn. severed a 72-count fiber-optic cable that delivered signal to Trigg, Marshall and Calloway Counties, as well as Stewart Co., Tenn.
“Crews had the video and cable-TV portion of the signal restored by 5:00 that afternoon,” said Hollis. “That was a little bit quicker than anticipated. We had an unexpected problem with the internet and telephone circuits. That was not back up until 12:30 Friday morning.”
Hollis said that Mediacom does not release subscription rates, though said that the outage left all of the four counties without service. He added that Mediacom does not service the cities of Murray or Benton.
“We appreciate the patience of our customers when something like this happens,” said Hollis. “It’s nothing we ever want to happen to them.”
