The couple married on June 4, 1961 at St. John Methodist Church in Hopkinsville. The Rev. James Thurmond officiated. Virginia Cornette and Douglas Hayes witnessed.
Celena Ann Malone is the daughter of the late Elliott and Annie W. Malone. She is retired from Prince Georges County, Maryland School System where she worked in food service.
Nicolas Mejia is the son of the late Nicolas V. Mejia, Sr. and Gladys C. Mejia. He is retired from N.A.S.A.
The couple has four children, Steven Mejia of Edison, N.J., Valerie Glazier of Richmond, Va., Allyson Mejia of Ashburn, Va. and Cathy Sinex of Prince Frederick, Md. and eight grandchildren.
