Trigg County Middle School opened their 2004 season with a convincing 38-0 win Aug. 12 at James Madison Middle in Madisonville.

As seventh graders last year, the Midcats were a perfect 6-0 and outscored their opponents 108-0.

The trend continued last week.

Quarterback Brandon Bridges rushed for 107 yards, two touchdowns, and added three conversion runs. He also threw for 40 yards.

Dustin Calhoun added 59 yards on the ground, while Antonio Grubbs added 53 and a touchdown.

Donald Bush also reached the end zone, scoring twice and adding 47 yards rushing.

Calhoun racked up 15 tackles on defense and a sack, while three of Bush’s 12 stops were quarterback sacks.

The seventh graders lost their opener 22-14.

Trigg County scored on a 65-yard scamper from Jalik Alexander and a 24-yard run from Josh Adams.

The Midcats return to action Thursday at Calloway County.
