ELKTON – Trigg County Middle School’s football team is moving in the right direction after a 14-0 scrimmage win over Christian County at Saturday’s jamboree at Todd County.

Trigg head coach Larry Jasper said he saw areas the Midcats can improve, but overall he was pleased with their effort and thought the experience built their confidence heading into Tuesday’s season-opener at Hopkinsville.

Quentin Bird opened the scoring for Trigg with a 15-yard touchdown catch from Skylar Pool. Later, Luke McKenzie scored on a 20-yard sweep and connected with Mikey White on the two-point conversion pass.

The Midcat defense allowed Christian County only 60 yards of offense.
