A history teacher at Trigg County Middle School is beginning work on a book detailing the history of the county’s history, and says he needs help from the community.

Thomas Harper said that he submitted a proposal last year to Arcadia Publishing, which specializes in publishing books on local history. They will pay for the cost of publishing and distribution, and it is the same company that published Christian County historian William Turner’s photo-filled books on Cerulean Springs and Hopkinsville. Harper said his book will be in the same format, and that Turner has been giving him advice on how to proceed with the project. Harper, who teaches sixth and eighth-grade geography and American history, said that history is a hobby of his.

“It’s a good way to use my hobby and share it with others,” Harper said. “I think the timing is good, too, with the changes coming to Trigg County, like the new justice center.”
