Funeral services for Minnie Calhoun Phillips, 83, of Cadiz, were conducted on Friday, April 27, 2007, at 2 p.m., at King’s Funeral Home.

Revs. Paul Cannon and Ronnie Sivells officiated at the services. Burial followed in the Phillips Family Cemetery in Trigg County.

Mrs. Phillips died on Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at 11:03 a.m., at the Princeton Health Care Manor following a long illness.

Mrs. Phillips was born on January 18, 1924, in Trigg County. She was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Dessie Puckett Calhoun.

Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker; worked for Thomas Industries for 15 years until she retired in 1972; was a member of the Canton Baptist Church, where she was one of the oldest living members; and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Women’s Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Phillips in 2005; a son, Franklin E. Phillips in 1998; five brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Tony Thomas and Margie and Gary Ellis, all of Cadiz; five grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 12 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and 18 nieces and nephews.

Courtney Harrison, vocalist, Canton Baptist Church Choir, Betty Oakley, organist, and Clarissa King, pianist provided the music.

Serving as pallbearers were E.J. Calhoun, Tommy Lyons, Orbie Dell Calhoun, David Cortner, James Boddy, and Leon Bland.
