Funeral services for Mintie Lee Herndon Futrell, 81, Cadiz, were conducted on Sunday, June 15, 2008, at 2 p.m., at Goodwin Funeral Home.

Rev. Greg McNichols officiated at the services. Burial followed in the House Cemetery in Linton (Trigg County), Ky.

Mrs. Futrell died on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at 10 p.m., at her residence, of natural causes.

Mrs. Futrell was born on January 1, 1927, in Linton (Trigg County), Ky. She was the daughter of the late F.U. and Etnie Florence Proffitt Herndon.

Mrs. Futrell was retired from Mid-Continent Spring Co.; was a member of Linton United Methodist Church; was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #149, where she was a 50 year member; member of the Linton Homemakers, Trigg County Senior Citizens Center, and the Widowed Persons Group.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Plomer Futrell in 1994; a daughter, Shelia Shelton Ohler; a brother, James Grant Herndon; a sister, Alice Ann Elliott; and a grandchild, John G. Clark.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and James Clark of Cadiz; grandchildren, Thomas Ramsey and Theresa Shelton, Kevin and Sharon Shelton, Johanna and Scott Lee, and James “Jeff” and Sheri Clark; great-grandchildren, Breanna Shelton, Katelyn Clark, Sara Clark, Jamey Clark, and Rebekah Shelton.

Serving as pallbearers were Scott Lee, Donnie Elliott, Dennis Elliott, James E. Proffitt, Jr., Terry Proffitt, and Linzie “Haywood” Proffitt.
