Trigg County Deputy Coroner John Mark Vinson stated that preliminary autopsy results indicate that Adam K. Smith, 28 of Corbin died of drowning, while Johnna R. Snow of Paducah died of head trauma. Heather Reams, 24 of Paducah was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville where she is listed in critical condition.
Bob Snow, of Paducah, who is listed by State Police as the owner of the boat in the crash, and husband to the late Johnna Snow was reported to have swam over one quarter of a mile where he was able to make his way to a home where he found 15 year-old Poe Bailey. Bailey telephoned authorities at roughly 3:30 A.M.
Mr. Snow was treated for minor injuries and released from the Trigg County Hospital.
The fifth boater, Cobey D. Slankard, 31 was identified as a resident of West Paducah. He required surgery at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah for facial lacerations according to State Police Investigator Michelle Kent.
As the investigation is open, police have not released any information from Snow’s statement concerning the accident. Slankard and Reams have not been interviewed due to the severity of their injuries, investigators said.
Early reports claimed that Snow had been at the helm of the small craft, though State Police issued a statement refuting that. “At this time, investigators with the state police are conducting interviews and collecting evidence and have not determined who the operator of the boat was,” said the June 23 press release.
