Funeral services for Nancy Sullivan Major, 76, of Hopkinsville, were conducted on Saturday, November 4, 2006, at 10 a.m., at Hughart and Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville.

Rev. Ron Buck and Rev. Dr. Tom Martin officiated at the services. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Major died on Wednesday, November 1, 2006, at 10:10 p.m., at Jennie Stuart Medical Center following a long illness.

Mrs. Major was born on July 19, 1930, in Lexington, Tenn. She was the daughter of the late John Ray and Carolene Holcomb Sullivan.

Mrs. Major was a homemaker, and a member of the First Christian Church in Hopkinsville.

Survivors include her husband, James J. Major; three daughters, Carolyn Sholar of Madisonville, Ellen Jolly of Cadiz, and Mary Catherine Smith of Hopkinsville; a brother, David Sullivan; and six grandchildren, Wade Sholar, Mary Van Jolly, Jay Jolly, Ellie Jolly, Clark Smith, and Sally Smith.

Serving as pallbearers were Wendell Sholar, Wade Sholar, David Smith, Scott Jolly, Jay Jolly, David Armstrong, Brian Sullivan, and John David Sullivan.
