John Durden, the president of the Cadiz-Trigg County Chamber of Commerce for 2009, said he has several things planned for the chamber that will help it to increase its membership and its footprint in the area.

Durden said most of those plans are in the planning stages, and he couldn’t be more specific than that, as early as it into the new year. “We are so early into the New Year and our primary focus at this stage is this year's membership drive,” he said.

However, Durden added that “these plans for 2009 will all be centered on how we may best serve each and every chamber member and provide them with numerous reasons for joining and participating.”

Aside from the membership drive, one of the projects the chamber is working on, through a partnership with Trigg County Hospital, is a local version of the Biggest Loser, which will kick off on Feb. 2 and will end in April.

The chamber, along with Audra Hodges and Mallory Lawrence of the hospital, will further discuss the Biggest Loser program at its Wednesday, Jan. 14, meeting, at the Cadiz Family Restaurant at 12 noon.
