September …vacation time pretty much over. Did you receive any post cards from friends or relatives traveling this summer? I hope you did not receive any from the “Postcard Killers” by James Patterson, this is his summer book and “Pam’s Pick” of the week!

His co-author on this book is Liza Marklund, a bestselling author in Europe. Pick No. 2 is “Cure” by Robin Cook. Robin returns with another heart pounding story of medical intrigue.

My Non-fiction “Picks,” a biography, “Sonia Sotomayor: the True American Dream” by Antonia Felix. This is the extraordinary journey of the 111th United State Supreme Court Justice. Plus, change your behavior, be more confident, get what you want…”Develop Your Assertiveness” by Sue Bishop. Both books seem to fit together. New, for our Christian Fiction readers, “Twilight’s Serenade” by Traci Peterson, this is Book three in the Song of Alaska series, in which Britta returns to Sitka after having been gone for six years. Available in regular and large print.

New Fiction: “Burn” by Nevada Barr, this is an Anna Pigeon novel. Anna is in New Orleans, staying with a friend, when, believe it or not, somebody tries to put a hex on her. Anna soon suspects that her friend’s tenant, a fellow named Jordan, might have something to do with it but why?

“Maybe This Time” by Jennifer Crusie, this novel gives a new twist to old flames, second chances, and things that go bump in the night. Andie is ready to move on with her life, when her ex-husband asks her for a favor. He had taken guardianship of his cousins two kids. He needs someone to take care of them and he knows she can handle it. But this is not the plans she had for her new life.

“As Husbands Go” by Susan Isaacs, the story of love that just won’t give up. Susan is shocked when her hubby Jonah Gersten turns up dead in a hooker’s Upper East Side apartment. Though the police and prosecutors wind up their case against call girl Dorinda Dillon, it’s far from settled for Susan. It simply didn’t add up, in either my head or my heart, she confesses. She wants to track down the truth or does she?

“Bodily Harm” by Robert Dugoni, the story of corporate greed and the lengths one man will go for justice. Attorney David Sloane wins a malpractice case with his new partner and doesn’t even have time to celebrate the victory before a man approaches and tells him he’s convicted the wrong person.

Kyle Horgan, a toy designer, proves to Sloane that the doctor he just convicted is not at fault in the death of a little boy. Instead, the guilty party is the manufacturer of a new toy that has just hit the market. When Horgan disappears and it appears that more children might be at risk, Sloane decides to uncover the truth, regardless of the consequences.

New Cookbooks: “Fresh and Fast Vegan” by Amanda Grant, this cookbook has mouthwatering dishes that not only taste great, but are also good for you.

“Kid’s Cakes from the Whimsical Bakehouse” by Liz Hansen, this book will show you how to turn any birthday, holiday, or even humdrum day into a sweet occasion and will leave you with unforgettable memories of baking together.

“Today’s Kitchen Cookbook” from the Today Show, this book including favorites from Katie, Matt, Ann, and Al.
