Co-owners Ernie Bradshaw and Scott Blair told The Cadiz Record that they entered a partnership with Rick Davis to purchase the business. Bradshaw, of Somerset and Blair, of Richmond, will operate the store. He said that Davis owns and operates three other groceries in Winchester, Mr. Vernon and Liberty, Kentucky.
“We’ll be in the store a lot, especially at the beginning,” said Blair. “We’ll be in and out as time goes on because we have the other stores that we don’t want to forget about. There will be a nice rotation with us throughout the five days we are here.”
Bradshaw said that he recently retired from state government and learned of the opportunity to invest in the Cadiz store through Davis. Blair said that Davis is his father-in-law. He entered the grocery business in 2005. Bradshaw and Blair own the Cadiz IGA business with Davis, who owns the West Main Street property and building.
“We’re planning to have between 25-27 workers on our payroll to start,” said Blair. “If we do the kind of business we hope for, then we will have plenty of room for growth and can maybe grab a few more.” He added that the “biggest core” of employees had been hired from the previous operators of the grocery, Washer’s IGA.
