The Trigg/Lyon County Newcomers Club had their yearend meeting at Lake Barkley Lodge last week, which was completed with the installation of 2008 officers and a program by singers from Cadiz United Methodist Church.

After lunch the club’s incoming president, Mary Alice Elm, introduced the special guests, the Golden Girls. The group is made up of Mary Roach, Vicki Godwin, Paulette Anderson and Jean Renken. Godwin, Anderson and Renken sang harmonies while Roach accompanied them on dulcimer. During one of the first songs, “Spirit of the Living God,” Anderson demonstrated hand signals along with the song which she had taught her children’s choir. For several Christmas carols, club members sang along with songs such as “Joy to the World,” “Silent Night,” and “The First Noel.”
