Funeral services for Noble Earl Sholar, 87, of Gracey, were conducted on Saturday, August 26, 2006, at 11 a.m., at Goodwin Funeral Home.

Revs. Don Mock and John Hagan officiated at the services. Burial followed in the Jones Cemetery in Trigg County.

Mr. Sholar died on Wednesday, August 23, 2006, at 2:35 a.m., at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville of natural causes.

Mr. Sholar was born on July 18, 1919, in Trigg County. He was the son of the late Henry David and Maggie Louise Dearing Sholar.

Mr. Sholar was retired from Western State Hospital Maintenance Department; was a member of the Cadiz Masonic Lodge #121; KY Colonel; and a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Katherine Sowell Sholar on August 6, 2006; a brother, Leroy Sholar; and a sister, Martha Louise Meredith.

Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Dalton and Brenda Sholar, and Wendell Sholar, all of Gracey; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Agnes and Berlin Moore of Cadiz; three brothers, Ernest Sholar and Lacy Sholar, both of Gracey, and Harrison Sholar of Cadiz; a sister, Dorothy Broadbent of Cadiz; six grandchildren, Chris Sholar, Matt Sholar, Wade Sholar, Stan Moore, Stephanie Boshell, and Katie Moore; and five great-grandchildren, Carter Sholar, Mary Madeline Sholar, Whitney Boshell, MacKayla Phillips, and Peyton Phillips.

Vicki Bridges, pianist, provided the music.

Serving as pallbearers were Stan Moore, Chris Sholar, Matt Sholar, Wade Sholar, Jackie Boshell, and Delmer Hargis.
