Funeral services for Orvil Rickard, 80, of Princeton, were conducted on Sunday, December 3, 2006, at 2:30 p.m., at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton.

Rev. Finis Witherspoon, assisted by Rev. Harold Salyers, officiated at the services. Burial followed in Cross Roads Cemetery.

Mr. Rickard died on Friday, December 1, 2006, at 4:47 a.m., at his home following a long illness.

Mr. Rickard was born on May 13, 1926, in Caldwell County. He was the son of the late Maple and Margie Glass Rickard.

Mr. Rickard was a retired Section Laborer, ICGR, with 42 years of service; attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Princeton; and was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Fralick Rickard in 1998; a son, Ernie Rickard; a grandson, Stanley Rickard; two sisters, Kathleen Rickard and Mary Orange Board; and a brother, Bill Rickard.

Survivors include three sons, Dennis Rickard, Ralph Rickard, and James Rickard, all of Princeton; three daughters, Bonnie Teague, Virginia Green, and Ruth Choate, all of Princeton; four step grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren; a brother, Orbie Lee Rickard of Princeton; two sisters, Betty Egbert and Runnell Egbert, both of Caldwell County; and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers were Freddie Coleman, Paul Wayne Towery, Larry Tackwell, Kenny Wigginton, Jimmy Teague, and Clyde East.

Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Davis, Buddy Davis, Michael Rickard, Stevan Choate, David Choate, and Dallas Rickard.
