Funeral services for Oscar Jessup, 79, of Cadiz, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Rocky Ridge Baptist Church. Gamble Funeral Home in Hopkinsville is in charge of arrangements.

The Rev. Kenneth Wharton will officiate. Burial will follow in the Rocky Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Jessup died of natural causes at 5 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Jessup was born May 2, 1931 in Cadiz. He was the son of the late Coss Arron and Lucy Turner Jessup.

Mr. Jessup was in production at Hoover. He was a productive farmer, volunteer for the Montgomery Fire Department, worked at Lake Barkley Lodge and worked as a school custodian. He was a member of Rocky Ridge Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, trustee, church custodian and usher.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Garvie Jessup, and his second wife, Pamela Jessup; one son, Larry Jessup; one sister, Annie Brandon; and four brothers, Jessie, Rubin and Thomas Jones and Nathaniel Jessup.

Survivors include four sons, Oscar (Millie) Jessup of Bowling Green, Ricky (Rachel) Jessup of Cerulean, Ivan Jessup of Madisonville and Jackie Jessup, of Cadiz; one daughter, Jannie Jessup Crain of Cadiz; two sisters, Janie Boyd of Cadiz and Mary Manning of Pembroke; one step-son, David Thomas, Jr.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
