Trigg County Sheriff Randy Clark has arrested 28-year-old Andy Lee Dawson and his wife, 22-year-old Stephanie Ann Dawson of 146 West End Street, charging them one count each with assault in the fourth degree after receiving a call the couple were fighting in their apartment.

The reports allege that the couple were engaged in an altercation provoked by Andy Dawson’s alleged use of marijuana in their apartment around the couple’s newborn baby.

Clark’s report said that Andy Dawson pushed Stephanie Dawson down over a clothesbasket causing a small laceration to Stephanie Dawson’s wrist. The sheriff also said that Andy Dawson claimed that he was trying to leave the apartment but that Stephanie Dawson prevented him from doing so.

During the altercation, Clark alleged that Stephanie Dawson struck her husband in the back multiple times and ripped his pants.

In early April of this year, Andy Dawson filed a complaint against three officers of the Cadiz Police department alleging that they used excessive force against him in an April 3 incident.

Dawson said in that incident he had gone to the police department to inquire about why a relative of his had been arrested. When he was asked to leave the building, Dawson said he began to argue with the officers involved and was unduly beaten by the three officers prior to his being arrested.
