Police investigate hit and run

On May 21, an officer investigated a hit and run on Martindale St. Witnesses reported seeing someone ram a parked car and leaving at high speed. Lamont Dantral Crump, 28, of 16 McRidley St., was found at his home. The officer observed damage to the suspect’s vehicle. Crump admitted hitting the parked car after being hit with a basketball. The officer reported smelling alcoholic beverages and administered three sobriety tests, which the suspect failed. He was arrested and charged with a DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, criminal mischief in the first degree and wanton endangerment in the second degree.

Man arrested for contempt of court

Kenneth W. Burgess, 35, of 11568 South Rd., was arrested on May 17 and charged with contempt of court for failing to comply with a court order. The report didn’t mention the circumstances surrounding the order.

Woman charged with nonpayment of fine

Darla H. Mitchell, 42, of 84 Iron St., was arrested on May 19 and charged with nonpayment of a fine. The report did not state the circumstances of the fine.

Man charged with drunk driving

On May 19, an officer received a call that someone had been driving recklessly on West End St. and stopped at 1221 Patton Place. The officer arrived at the scene and reported smelling alcoholic beverages on the resident, Charles W. Wood, 26. According to the police report, the suspect failed the horizontal gaze nystagmus test. He then reportedly could not follow the directions of the one-leg-stand test and could not complete the test. He then did not pass the walk-and-turn test when he did not touch his heel to toe on any of the steps. The officer then administered a Breathalyzer test and the suspect registered a .238. He was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol under aggravated circumstances.

Woman charged with spousal abuse

Laura Ann Ladd, 22, of 298 Old Canton Pike was arrested on May 16 and charged with assault in the fourth degree. According to the police report, her husband, Roy Ladd, reported that during an argument with his wife, she “tripped him, pushed him down and grabbed him by the neck.”

Man charged with nonpayment of fines

Anton Stephens Martin, 46, of 648 Cerulean Rd., was arrested on May 17 and charged with four counts of nonpayment of fines. The police report did not state the circumstances for the fines.

Man runs from police; found with drugs

According to the police report, on May 17, Shelby R. Mart, 18, of 1277 Jefferson St., ran across Ky. 139 in front of oncoming traffic. The suspect’s dog was following and was struck by a vehicle. The suspect allegedly continued to run to the parking lot of Wilson Market. When the officer stopped to check the dog, Mart turned to walk away, the report said. The officer advised him to come back, and the suspect ran around the corner of the building and got into a vehicle. He was then found to be in possession of marijuana and several prescription medications. He was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana; possession of a controlled substance; possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, schedule three, Lortabs; possession of a controlled substance in the first degree, schedule two, Meprozine; possession of controlled substance in the third degree, schedule four, Soma.

Tennessee woman charged with alcohol intoxication

On May 8, an officer received a complaint of a woman walking barefoot on the side of US 68. The officer reported then observing Christina Lynn Hierlmeier, 25, of 228 Tobacco Port Rd., Bumpus Mills, Tenn., staggering on the shoulder of the road. The suspect was reported to be unsteady on her feet. The officer reported smelling alcoholic beverages and then administered a field sobriety test, which she failed. She was arrested and charged
