Speeding and marijuana

Cadiz Police Officer Chad Grace arrested Nadine M. Tyler, 21, of 525 West 17th Street, Hopkinsville for Speeding, No Insurance, DUI –First Offense, and Possession and Trafficking Marijuana on October 10.

Grace’s arrest report claims he stopped Tyler for driving 74 miles-per-hour in a posted 55 zone. During the stop, he smelled what he believed to be marijuana emanating from the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect allegedly admitted to smoking cannabis earlier in the evening. Upon search, Grace found what he believed to be a sack of marijuana in the suspect’s purse, and three smaller bags of it for resale. The suspect refused a blood test.

Passenger with marijuana/weapon

During the above stop of Nadine Tyler, Officer Grace alleged to have found a pistol under the seat of Shalonda S. Nance, 30, of Mary White Blvd., Cadiz and another sack of marijuana on her purse. Both passenger and driver were lodged in the Christian County Jail.

Non-payment

On October 11, Officer Grace arrested Elgene D. Radford, 27, of 806 Wood Street Hopkinsville on the strength of warrants alleging nonpayment of $950 in fines. Grace’s arrest report states that he received information that the suspect was at the Knight’s Inn of Cadiz and the warrant for unspecified charges was issued in a Christian County court. Grace added that Radford was recently featured on Hopkinsville’s Crimestopper’s program as a “Fugitive of the Week.”

DUI and marijuana

Officer Matt Dolezal of the Cadiz Police Department arrested Jackie Jessup, 50, of 93 Wallace Avenue for DUI-First Offense and Possession of Marijuana on October 12. In the arrest report, Dolezal states that he stopped the suspect for expired tags on his vehicle. The arresting officer alleged that during the stop, he noted a “strong odor” of marijuana and alcohol on the suspect. Upon searching the suspect’s vehicle, he found a small bag of a substance believed to be marijuana, which was confiscated and sent to a Kentucky State Police lab for identification. Jessup was lodged in the Christian County Jail.

More DUI and Marijuana

Officer Grace arrested Seth R. Bader, 18, of 330 Bear Run Road, Cadiz on October 12 for an alleged DUI First Offense, Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia. Grace said that he stopped the suspect for having one headlight dark on his vehicle. During the stop, the arresting officer claimed that Bader admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the evening. A search of the vehicle yielded what Grace believed to be a small quantity of marijuana and rolling papers. Bader allegedly failed several field sobriety tests before being arrested.

Pursuit ends in accident

Michael D. Mullen, 18, of 9714 Princeton Road, Cadiz was arrested on October 13 by Officer J.R. Burnett and charged with Fleeing and Evading in the First Degree, First Offense DUI, No valid Operator’s License, Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree and Failure to Carry Liability Insurance. Burnett’s arrest report claims that he attempted to stop the suspect vehicle after observing it weave and cross the centerline at Cerulean Road and Line Street. The suspect is said to have accelerated to nearly 100 miles-per-hour and failed to stop when ordered by the officer. Nearing the limits of Cerulean, eight miles north of Cadiz, the suspect’s car left the road and overturned twice. The suspect and a passenger were treated for injuries at the Trigg County Hospital. Burnett reported no other injuries in the pursuit.

Alcohol

intoxication

After the Mullen pursuit, Burnett arrested 34-year-old Kimberly M. Utley, of 9714 Princeton Road as the passenger in the vehicle for Alcohol Intoxication. The arrest report said that Utley suffered injuries in the rollover that ended the high-speed chase. She was treated at Trigg County Hospital.

DUI and theft

Officer Burnett arrested Elaine M. Clark, 51, of Paducah on October 13 at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant. Burnett’s report alleges that witnesses reported that an apparently intoxicated Clark nearly strike another vehicle upon leaving the restaurant parking lot. Upon stopping Clark, Burnett said she failed several field sobriety tests and found several items from the store that had not been paid for. A Breathalyzer test recorded he blood-alcohol content at .166, over twice the legal limit of .08. Clark was charged with First Offense DUI and Theft by Unlawful Taking (Shoplifting) before being lodged in the Christian County Jail.

Bench warrants

Greg Watkins, 34, of Apt. 27, Barkley Manor Apartments, Cadiz was arrested on October 14 on the strength of a Lyon County bench warrant for Failure to Appear and a Caldwell County warrant for Flagrant Non-payment of Support. Officer Chad Grace said that Watkins rode as a passenger in a vehicle stopped for a violation. Upon investigation, it was learned that the suspect was wanted for the two warrants and arrested.

Another wanted passenger

Officer Matt Dolezal arrested Michael Stern, 36, of 85 Wallace Ave., Cadiz during a traffic stop. Stern, a passenger in the vehicle was wanted for a Trigg County Bench warrant for nonpayment of fines.

Third passenger arrested

Officer Grace arrested Brandi Deboe, 34, of White Sulfur Road, Cadiz on October 14, on the strength of warrants from Caldwell and Lyon Counties alleging Failure to appear in Court. Deboe was said to be a passenger in the vehicle and arrested when investigation revealed the active warrants.
