Samuel Kirby, 53, of Wallace Avenue, was arrested by Cadiz Police on Nov. 2 and charged with alcohol intoxication, as well as being served with a bench warrant for nonpayment of fines. According to the report, the officer was called to a Wallace Avenue residence to answer a complaint of a person asleep in the backyard. Upon his arrival, the officer found Kirby intoxicated and passed out. The warrant in question was for nonpayment of fines, which were also related to alcohol intoxication.
Richard Gruetzmacher, 24, of Chattanooga, Tenn., was arrested on Nov. 2. According to the report, he was the passenger in a DUI stop. He was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance in the first degree and having a prescription drug in an improper container.
Chattanooga man arrested for DUI
Police arrested Ian Fanning, 22, of Chattanooga, Tenn. on Nov. 2. According to the report, Fanning was stopped at a safety road checkpoint and smelled strongly of alcoholic beverages, as well as seeming to be under the influence of said beverages. After being asked to step out of his vehicle, he refused. He was placed under arrest and had to be physically removed from he vehicle. He was charged with driving under the influence in the first degree, resisting arrest and refusal of a test.
Man arrested for pot
Derrick Gude, 26, of Cerulean Rd., was arrested by police on Nov. 2 and charged with possession of marijuana. According to the report, he was stopped for expired tags. Upon the search of his vehicle, marijuana was found in the ashtray of his car.
Avoiding checkpoint leads to arrest
John Payne, 49, of Short Street, was arrested on Nov. 3 after making an illegal turn to avoid a sobriety checkpoint. After being stopped, Payne failed a field sobriety test. He submitted to a blood and urine test. He was charged with a DUI with a suspended license and a DUI, fourth offense.
