Wiggins said that Police Chief Hollis Alexander was out of town until September 3, and that investigating Officer Scott Brown had not been in the office during the week or shared any new leads with him in the case.
According to Brown, an unidentified suspect approached an employee of the convenience store at 2 p.m. from behind, demanding the “bank bag” she was carrying. The employee said that the suspect wore black shoes, blue jeans and had a deep voice.
Alexander said that the voice lead investigators to believe the suspect was male, but did not discount the possibility that the unidentified person could have been female. He added that the Cadiz Police Department had no information to indicate that any employees of the store had been involved in the crime.
The incident, which took place at about 2 p.m., has not produced any witnesses who saw the suspect or the employee who police said was forced to lie face down in the parking lot.
