A raccoon hunting event, cattle show, and placement of two camera booths for soccer games were among the top subjects discussed at the Trigg County Recreation Complex (TCRC) by the board of directors on Monday night.

Holding a four-day coon hunters convention held by Livingston County Houndsman Association (LCHA) could possibly bring $80,000-$100,000 to the Trigg County community. Money for this project giving the complex upgrades, permanent and temporary installments will be furnished by the LCHA.

Committee members noted that if some permanent hook ups for water and electricity were installed, this could become an annual event, which in turn would be helpful to the community over many years.

Steve Herndon, a miniature cattle owner, involved with cattle shows in Houston, Texas, wants to hold cattle shows in Trigg County at the TCRC in the beginning of October before the Ham Festival.

Washing facilities, pins for livestock, and insurance are among some of the issues the board ran into. The washing facilities and pins did not cause a major concern, as the Trigg County Extension service has erected a washing area and plans to procure temporary pens. Though the insurance needed for such an event is more of a question that needs to be answered. A meeting will be called next Monday evening to discuss insurance cost, what is covered, and solutions for this show to take place at TCRC. The county officials may be needed to check on if insurance coverage for special events. Thomas asked Board Member Larry Lawrence, a member of the Trigg County Fiscal Court to inquire about policy information and coverage carried by the County.

Trigg County soccer coaches acquired two photo camera stands that with their combined use can give them an edge in analyzing games. The exact location, including the best angle, safety issues, and cost were examined.
