Rev. Mike Dorsey officiated at the services. Burial followed in the Matheny Cemetery, Land Between The Lakes with Military Rites.
Mr. Spurlin died on Wednesday, September 5, 2007, at 2:01 a.m. at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center, Hanson of natural causes.
Mr. Spurlin was born on February 17, 1931, in Christian County, KY. He was the son of the late Prentice Lee and Buna Corley Spurlin.
Mr. Spurlin was retired from the US Marine Corp., he was a US Army Veteran, he served in Korea, Vietnam, a member of the VFW and a KY Colonel. He was a member of the Trenton Assembly of God in Trenton, KY.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Sue Spurlin, one step son, Randy Wallace, and one step grandson, Steven Wallace.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Ashley Plymale, of Cadiz, three step sons and daughter-in-laws, Terry and Lisa Sumner, of Cadiz, Kevin Sumner, of Clarksville, and Jason and Cindy Sumner, of Cadiz, three brothers, W.L. “Bill” Spurlin, of Hopkinsville, Phillip Spurlin, of Biloxi, MS, Robert Spurlin, of Batesville, AR, one sister, Virginia N. Jessup, of Hopkinsville, two grandchildren, Ashton Ray Plymale, of Cadiz, Rhett Hunter Plymale, of Cadiz, five step grandchildren, Magen Sumner, of Louisville, Morgan Sumner, of Cadiz, Katie Sumner, of Cadiz, Cameron Sumner, of Cadiz, and Scott Sumner, of Hopkinsville.
Serving as pallbearers were Ashton Ray Plymale, Rhett Hunter Plymale, Ashley Plymale, Terry Sumner, Kevin Sumner, Jason Sumner, Cameron Sumner and Scott Sumner.
Honorary pallbearers were Gaylon Stallons, Bobby Stallons, Ed Birdsong, W.L. “Bill” Spurlin, Phillip Spurlin, and Robert Spurlin.
Justin Reynolds, pianist and vocalist provided the music.
