Pennyrile Electric spokesman Ricky Turner said that contractor were trimming a tree on Cunningham Avenue when a limb knocked out a power line shortly before 10 a.m. and blew two fuses. He said he didn’t think there were more than 15 or 20 customers who lost power because of the outage.
Turner said that no transformers had blown for the electric company this summer. When they do, he said it can be because of the age of the transformer, a bolt of lightning or heat. When it is extremely hot, a transformer can be overloaded because of energy demands.
