Funeral services for Rev. A.J. Outland, 82, of Gracey, were conducted on Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at 10 a.m., in the Duncan Chapel at Second Baptist Church in Hopkinsville. Hughart and Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville were in charge of all the arrangements.

Rev. William Gray and Rev. Larry Baker officiated at the services. Burial followed in Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Christian County.

Rev. Outland died on Sunday, June 19, 2005, at 6:15 p.m., at Pinecrest Manor of natural causes.

Rev. Outland was born on February 26, 1923, in Stewart County, Tenn. He was the son of the late William Acie and Birdie Futrell Outland.

Rev. Outland was a retired Baptist minister, having served Pleasant Run Baptist Church in Grayson County; Liberty Point Baptist in Trigg County; Zions Cause Baptist Church in Marshall County; Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Logan County; White Sulphur Baptist Church in Caldwell County; and Pleasant Green, Sinking Fork, and Bainbridge Grove Baptist churches, all in Christian County. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Hopkinsville.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Oleta Outland; a son and daughter-in-law, James A. and Connie Outland of Gracey; two grandsons and wives, Jason Clay and Ashley Outland, and Jim Bob and Melissa Outland; and a brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Kittie Outland.

Memorials may be made to Gideon’s International or to the Second Baptist Church.
