Funeral services for Richie Hughes, 56, of Princeton, were conducted on Monday, January 1, 2007, at 1 p.m., at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton.

Rev. Robin Scott officiated at the services. Burial followed in the Princeton Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Hughes died on Friday, December 29, 2006, at 11:02 a.m., at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville following a short illness.

Mr. Hughes was born on August 3, 1950, in Caldwell County. He was the son of Dorothy McDowell Hughes of Princeton, and the late Thomas Elwood Hughes, Sr.

Mr. Hughes was a retired teacher and coach in the Caldwell County School System; he faithfully attended Lewistown Christian Church; was a member of the Elks Club, CCFFAA Hall of Fame, and Lifetime member of the Kentucky High School Coaches Association; and was Elks Hoop Shoot Coordinator for more than 20 years.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Hughes, Jr.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Holly and Ben VanHooser of Princeton, and Brandy and Brandon Knoth of Kuttawa; five grandchildren, Drake VanHooser, Hunter VanHooser, Tate VanHooser, Campbell Knoth, and Claire Knoth; Fiancée, Teresa Glass of Caldwell County; one niece; one great-niece; and one great-nephew.
