The Trigg County Sheriff’s Office released a report identifying the driver as 35-year-old Jennifer Ellen Strader of Elkton, driving a 2006 Mack Granite truck owned by VFS Leasing Company of Greensboro for Rose Transport, Inc. of Hopkinsville. Trigg County EMS gave the driver first aid at the scene, and Strader was transported to the Trigg County Hospital.
Investigating officer Dane Hughes said that the Mack Dump Truck was loaded with 24.45 tons of asphalt when it overturned across the highway between Ky. 274 and Tommy Thomas Road. According to Hughes’ report compiled from the driver’s and witnesses’ statements, the truck veered slightly off the road onto the right shoulder. Strader attempted to steer the truck back onto the road when the left side of the truck rose off the ground. She attempted to steer right when the right side rose and the truck continued to roll. The truck then came to a rest, spilling the asphalt across the highway.
