Rev. Richard Sexton officiated at the services. Burial followed in the Cerulean Cemetery.
Mr. Cohoon died on Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at 6 a.m., at his residence of natural causes.
Mr. Cohoon was born on December 4, 1923, in Stewart County, Tenn. He was the son of the late Cloyd and Flois Griffin Cohoon.
Mr. Cohoon was a retired Electrician with 55 years of service; member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church; member of Cerulean Masonic Lodge #875 since 1949 and was the oldest member; and a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union #816 of Paducah..
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Cohoon and Clifford Cohoon; and a sister, Sara Fish.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Orten Cohoon of Cadiz; two sons and daughter-in-law, Jerry Cohoon of Hayward, Calif., and Terry and Debbi Cohoon of Cadiz; a daughter and son-in-law, Jan C. and Winfield Witty of Cadiz; six sisters, Lucille Martin, Patty Gamble, and Barbara Rives, all of Hopkinsville, Jeanette Gilmore of Ashland City, Tenn., Dell Shackleford of Jackson, Tenn., and Eva Waldrop of Anniston, Ala.; six grandchildren, John Alan Means, Jacqueline Quarles, Jamie Davis, Shane Cohoon, Stephanie Nelson, and Katie Scott; step-grandchild, Lori Cortner; seven great-grandchildren, Amanda Means, Shelby Moore, Mackenzie Moore, Jenna Bierkamp, Jaycee Bierkamp, Brooklyn Frederick, and Nicholas Nelson; and three step great-grandchildren, Breylin Cortner, Ethan Cortner, and Lillie Cortner.
Carolyn Stallons, pianist, and The Dunn Family, vocalists, provided the music.
Serving as pallbearers were John Alan Means, Shane Cohoon, Ricky Nelson, Damon Cortner, Chris Scott, and Larry Cohoon.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Cerulean Masonic Lodge.
