Ruby Blakely Carter, 83 of Hopkinsville, died of natural causes at 10:22 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center.

Services were held at Lambs Funeral Home Friday, April 9, 2010, with William Turner and Wesley “Tag” Mabry officiating. Burial was in Green Hill Memorial Gardens.

A native of Cerulean, she was born March 4, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Newton Anderson and Sarah Ellen Tribble Blakeley.

She had worked at International Shae Co. She was a member of Westside Neighborhood Association and the Christian County Historical Society. She served as an election poll officer for many years. She was a member of Sinking Fork Christian Church.

Her husband, Johnny J. Carter, died in 2000.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Cindy Wills and Bruce Wayne Carter, grandson Jonathan W. Carter, and one brother, Wallace M. Blakeley of Cadiz.

Pallbearers were Gary Blakeley, Denny Mize, Charles Simpson, John Tyler, Cary Hayes and Steve Tribble.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Diabetes Association.
