Funeral services for Rufus “Rip” Wilkerson, Sr., 84, of Cadiz were held at 1 p.m.

Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Gamble Funeral Home in Hopkinsville. The Rev. Jerry Bacon officiated. Burial followed at Trigg Memory Acres in Cadiz.

Mr. Wilkerson died of natural causes at 8:09 p.m. Monday, September 27, 2010 at Trigg County Hospital.

He was born April 18, 1926 in Christian County to the late Henry McKinley Wilkerson and Izora Ellen Acree Wilkerson.

He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Cadiz and worked as a farmer in Trigg County.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Elizabeth Tyler Wilkerson of Cadiz; three sons, Rufus Wilkerson Jr. (and wife Diane) of Louisville, F.B. Tyler of Cadiz and Paul Curlin Tyler Jr. of Princeton ; six daughters, Margaret Franklin (and husband Elwood) of Louisville, Dorothy Harriford (and husband Robert) of Lansing, Kan., Izora Lee Ellen Boyd of Jeffersonville, Ind., Mary Quarles (and husband Earl) of Gracey, Daisy Haskins of Indianapolis, Ind. and Dorothy Crocker of Cadiz; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
