Dr. Fred Moffatt and Rev. Jay Padgett officiated at the services. Burial followed in Grove Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Mrs. Hammonds died on Sunday, May 28, 2006, at her residence.
Mrs. Hammonds was born on March 8, 1925, in Shelby County. She was the daughter of the late Milton Duvall and Evelyn Robertson Neel Smith.
Mrs. Hammonds was a social worker for the Commonwealth of Kentucky; was a member of Graefenburg Baptist Church; was a graduate of Finchville High School, University of Kentucky, and Tulane University.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Perry Hammonds.
Survivors include two sons, Louis Smith Hammonds and Perry Neel Hammonds, both of Frankfort; a daughter, Ruth Ann Hammonds of Frankfort; brother, Joseph Neel Smith of Shelbyville; sister, Elizabeth Smith Johnston of Glencoe, Ill., and three sisters-in-law, Susie Hammonds Hughes, Linda Hughes Choate, and Sue Hughes Bostick, all of Cadiz.
