Superintendent Tim McGinnis said he was notified on the morning of Oct. 27 that there had been a fire in the elementary school building. He said that it appeared that an electrical short had occurred in the service line that provides electricity to the building and had created enough heat to cause a small fire. He said that although the fire had cut out electricity in the building, it had only caused minimal damage.
Cadiz Police Chief Kerry Fowler said his department responded to the fire at about 11 a.m. Saturday and that there had been “very little fire.” He said Monday morning that state deputy fire marshal inspected the site on Saturday and that a state electrical inspector would look at it that day.
