Kentucky State Police Post Two officers arrested Michael Brashears on Sept. 24 after finding 16 marijuana plants at his Cerulean home while investigating a missing person’s case.

Stu Recke, the Post Two public affairs officer, said that officers from Post One, Post Two and the Trigg and Christian County sheriff’s departments executed a search warrant on Brashear’s home at 2042 on Highway 624 on Sept. 12. He said they had received a tip on the missing person’s investigation of Hopkinsville resident Barbara Sue Laster, who was last seen since Dec. 8, 2002. Recke said it was the first tip of any credibility police had received in a long time, but that the lead turned out to be a dead end. He said he wasn’t sure if Brashears and Laster had known each other, but that police were back to where they started before they searched his home.
