Funeral services for Seldom Trimble “Trim” Major, Jr., 83, of Cadiz, were conducted on Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at 10 a.m., at Goodwin Funeral Home.

The Revs. Monty Flanigan and Norman Cotton officiated at the services. Burial followed in East End Cemetery in Cadiz.

Mr. Major died on Saturday, May 27, 2006, at 10:15 a.m., at his residence of natural causes.

Mr. Major was born on July 19, 1922, in Trigg County. He was the son of the late Seldon Trimble, Sr., and Mary Cunningham Major.

Mr. Major was retired from Trigg Knit; was a member of Liberty Point Baptist Church; was a Boy Scout Leader for many years; was a volunteer at the Cadiz Volunteer Fire Department for many years; and enjoyed the outdoors.

Survivors include a brother, George C. Major of Cadiz; a sister, Mary M. Beck of Nashville, Tenn.; a nephew, Jim Beck of Nashville; two nieces, Trudy Abaya and Terrye Blystone, both of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; and a Special Friend, Mae Rogers of Cadiz.

Serving as pallbearers were Robert Mitchell, Tony Mitchell, Bill Bryant, Tony Gordon, Herbert Braboy, and Tony Fowler.

Honorary pallbearers were John Allen, Norris Grant, George Martin, George Ethridge, T.O. Edmonds, Bob Lester, Kenny Goodwin, Charles Butts, Sonny Black, and Kendall Finley.

Martha Fortner, pianist, and Rev. Roy Marquess, Jr., vocalist provided the music.
