“Brush, leaf, junk and sanitation services such as weekly curbside garbage pickup will no longer be provided by the city. The city will no longer provide regular police patrols and fire protection. We will no longer provide mosquito spraying and water and sewer service will be billed at county, rather than city rates,” Fowler said.
Any final decision on those services, however, will be left up to the city council. The council is expected to make some of those decisions when it meets Tuesday (last night) night in regular session.
Cadiz Police Chief Hollis Alexander said that regular law enforcement patrols would be provided by the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office. “We really have no specific agreements with the Sheriff’s Office about those areas removed from the city. If the sheriff is busy and we get a complaint in close proximity to city limits, we will respond if requested by the sheriff, if he is on another call.
