Malva and Howard Stovall plan to discount some of their inventory for the summer sale. This table may be offered for $100 off the original price.
The sale will be held on August 4, 5 and 6, and was the concept of the Downtown Cadiz Business Association.
Association member Karla White of Cherokee antiques hopes to include all main street businesses, not just downtown. Her goal is to bring as many citizens of Trigg County and Cadiz downtown and into Main Street shops, for what she describes as an event for “the good ol’ summertime.”
Many businesses are gearing up with extended hours and sales. Linda Peck, of popular eatery Hot Diggity Dog, is planning for a long weekend. Peck said that Hot Diggity would continue to serve its full menu until 9 P.M. Friday and Saturday, and would open its doors to hungry shoppers on Sunday from 10 A.M. until 4 P.M.
Miz Malva’s Antiques is also planning for the ambitious sale. Owners Malva and Howard Stovall took a walk through their shop, identifying potential bargain offers.
“It’s a first for Cadiz, and we’re looking forward to it,” said Malva Stovall. “Right now they want us to set up some tables outside and come in to pay.”
The Stovall’s sell some of their own merchandise and rent space to vendors. Howard felt some of his vendors would be successful. “We’re going to have special deals on certain items- the merchandise I’ve got. Our dealers may have special tables with discounted items. We want to have the whole sidewalk full, if we can.”
Mrs. Stovall pointed out a cooler loaded with soft drinks. “We’re going to have cokes and snacks, and this year, we’re having bottled water, too.”
