he Trigg County Grand Jury returned three true bills against defendants, including David Thomas Miller for Rape in the Second Degree.

On February 10, Cadiz Police Officer Scott Brown alleges that he observed the then 19-year-old Miller, an Army Private First Class stationed at Fort Campbell, engaged in sexual intercourse with an unnamed 13-year-old girl in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Super-8 Motel. According to the report, the juvenile had been listed as missing a few days before.

The grand jury found a no true bill in charges of engaging in an unlawful transaction with a minor against Miller and dismissed the charge.

Circuit Clerk Pam Perry said that Miller will be arraigned for the sole count of the indictment on August 15, in the court of Circuit Judge C.A. “Woody” Woodall III. She said that he had not yet been served with an arrest warrant on the indictment, but remained lodged in the Christian County Jail, in lieu of a $10,000 cash bond.

Miller faced charges in Todd County for Theft by Unlawful Taking, greater than $300. According to the Todd County Circuit Clerk’s office, Miller had the final rule of this case diverted. Allowed to plead innocent as part of the diversion, Miller must avoid violence and remain out of the Commonwealth for five years, though is unable to comply due to his incarceration.

In other actions, the jury indicted 22-year-old Thomas Wayne Crump for Burglary in the Third Degree and for being a Persistent Felony Offender in the Second. The indictment said that on April 7, Crump entered or remained unlawfully in a building.

The jury also indicted 52-year-old Clarence Steven Jessup for a second offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance-cocaine, First Degree and a first-degree charge of being a Persistent Felony Offender.
